a call to love
Saw this on a post by one of my favorite priests at SU. It’s a good sentiment: love, love, love everyone (even yourself)…and don’t keep score.

I was realizing just how much I am loved – loved so deeply. (I am never surprised how good and beautiful you are, realizing that about myself was more difficult. But the two go together!) This...
I can honestly say that if it weren’t for sisters and friends who genuinely care, I would’ve drowned in depression a long time ago.
I’m grateful for every phone date, random catch up text, vent, cry, and hug. You’ve all kept me sane and alive more than you realize.
Matatag!

thanksgiving blues
The holidays have officially begun and it still feels surreal without my mom here. Even if we try, nothing compares to her company and cooking. I miss the sweet smell of pancakes she wakes us up with, the jokes and games we’d play to get each other out of bed, the quality time we’d have as we prepare for dinner together and of course, the big feast to celebrate our day of fun...
Fatty tidbit of the day
2 of my coworkers have been fully committed to a weight watchers program and have been really successful. In about 2 months, one of them lost 50+ pounds another 30. With all my sugar cravings and nonstop snacking habits, I’m scared I may have to join them soon. Eeps!
One tidbit I’ve learned: it only takes 3 bites to satisfy a craving. Sounds tough but I’m determined to try it (...

Time is a jealous lover. If you mistreat it, you can start over, but you never get it back. It’s kind of like forgiveness without forgetting — it’s over, it’s OK, but it’s going to be different now. We can use the time entrusted to us. We can count down the 1,440 minutes in each day and put them to good use.
Sometimes it helps to put things in perspective: what one...
Let your heart guide you. It whispers, so listen closely.

the insolent power of maybe →
Here’s a good article on people who say “maybe” too often. Instead of clearly saying no, people say maybe with a hint of “I’m interested, but won’t commit in case something better comes up”. It’s something we can definitely check about ourselves.
Money diet seizures
Why is it that whenever that I put aside a considerable amount into savings, some strange but necessary anomaly comes up and sucks it all away?! Such a pain!
People say that what we’re all seeking is a meaning for life. … I...

what makes filipinas happy? →
Very interesting statistics on what makes Filipino women happy. Quite funny that food ranks significantly higher than sex life. I guess if you want to make a Filipino woman happy, you gotta know how to feed her first!

“You live once, you know what I’m saying? Who knows. They always say, you never know what you’re going to get. Work while you can…..Time is our best friend and our worst enemy. Experience makes you better, but it means you’re running out. You do want to maximize your time and take advantage of situations and the opportunities that present itself. I can’t take advantage if...
Make a wish and place it in your heart. Anything you want, everything you want....

I just made my wish, I just hope it happens soon ;)
new project
I think I want to start retracing my family history. I know I have Chinese, Portugese, Spanish and obviously Filipino blood but I want to learn about the triumph and tragedy my ancestors were able to overcome. I’ve heard stories of cousins marrying, being beheaded during the Japanese war, first scholarly migrants to the US, hidden treasures…..all that, I want…no NEED to learn...

A good friend reminded me of this the other day. Life isn’t about finding a magical “cure all” tablet for happiness, success or whatever’s supposed to happen next. It’s more of a process of learning and developing our inner truths. It...

Yup, definitely agree. Writing is my anti-drug.
