Filipino-ness is all about Bumbum, Baby, Boy and... →
Amusing article on BBC.com about playful Filipino names being taken seriously. It’s so true, the Philippines is probably the only country in the world that thinks it’s OK to call a 50-year old businessman “babe”, a Congressman “Joker” or even a mayor “Jejomar” (after Jesus, Mary and Joseph).
It’s well written too, I might say.
Today is the end of the first quarter of the year, a.k.a. Q1. Why should you care about this commonplace term from the world of finance and business? Because an efficient way to move forward is to have a regular marker to stop and assess your progress. If you had to issue a quarterly report on You, Inc., what would it say?
Thank you! I like you too!

Damn…awesome quote! Take me as I am. Don’t make me feel less than I am, but let me grab life by the seams and be who I’m meant to be. Got it? Ok, well I haven’t. Haha
woohoo!
After a barrage of tests, surgeries, intermittent radiation treatments and overall lifestyle changes for the past year or so, my mom is officially cancer free for life!!!!! Woohoo!!!!
Praise God forever…and ever =)

2 Corinthians 4:15-18
15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. 16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18...

Blinders that keep you from comparing yourself to other people. Everyone has problems and a different version of what makes them happy. No good comes from comparing what you have or don’t have — from your job, your life or your relationship — to what others have. It will only make you question what you have. And you don’t even know if they are happy.

…feel like your brain is about to explode?! Yup, that would be me these days. Not sure what this is, but I wish I had switches in my brain to calm down the chaos. Or maybe I just need to stop thinking in general. Alt+Control+Delete…..end task. If only it were that easy.
(ps. Don’t worry, this isn’t as bad as it sounds. I just need a mental health break…aka a...

Take a moment today to be present …and appreciate what you have:)

A lot of women feel the pressure of family expectations. Love your family, be there for them but as this woman who spent a lot of her 20’s bending to her family’s wishes, wishes for you: don’t do it at the expense of making your own life too.

hope this doesn't jinx me
I might as well say this while I still have it in me, but I’m finally happy to be busy at work. The good kind of busy, I mean. Yesterday, I was assigned a project I’ve been wanting to do for so long and I’m looking forward to focusing and learning more as I go along with it. Even better that after this project is done, I can get accredited and use it as bragging rights or...
top 10 cities to date a nerd →
LOL….another funny link in my emails today. It cracks me up that 3 of these cities are in the bay area and 2 of them in my neighborhood.
Also interesting that out of all the schools in the bay area (the US for that matter) UC Berkeley and Santa Clara U are mentioned, but Stanford isn’t. Could that mean that Cal and SCU is nerdier than Stanford?!? Haha…don’t answer,...
shopping for mail order brides :( →
This link came up on my gmail RSS feed and it makes me all sorts of angry, sad and disgusted. I guess google picked up “Filipino” from some of my emails and thought it was clever to link me to this site. I’ve always known about mail order brides but never saw how they were being advertised. It looks like a shopping website for people, that focuses on buying “the girl of...

One of those kick ass articles on being the best version of yourself. Here’s a few of my favorite points:
Bring passion to what you are doing everyday and set your expectations high. Greatness will forever be out of reach if you are not deeply passionate about what you do. If you don’t absolutely love, love, love your work, you’ll never have what it takes to make it to the...

America is NOT broke →
Leave it to Michael Moore to make sense in this financial crisis. Although this article is addressed to Wisconsin, I think it applies to California quite well. Or actually…it applies to all of us.
